The spring is in full bloom and the summer is creeping up fast, so it’s time to start thinking about relaxing. And, when it comes to the relaxation department, there is not much better than camping out in a seculded area. And when it comes to a secluded campground in New York State, we think that the Kenneth L. Wilson campground in Mt Tremper, New York is one of the best. For more information, keep reading, below.
At one point, the Kenneth L. Wilson Campground was the site of multiple farmlands, and a few of the stone fences from those farms still exist on the property. In the 1960s, the land was bought from the famers, and the campground was opened in June of 1979.
At the campground, there are 76 tents and trailer sites, a picnic area that includes grills and tables, pavilion rentals, flush toilets, hot showers, a dog park, a playground, and more. There is also firewood sales on the premises.
The campground is also five miles southwest of the village of Woodstock, which has plenty of great art galleries, restaurants, craft shops, antiques, and a whole lot more. It’s the best of both works—a secluded campground with a charming town nearby.
Camping frees run a very reasonable $22 per night, with an extra $5 purchase for out-of-state residents. The campground opens on May 17 and closes on October 14.
Kenneth L. Wilson Campground is the secluded New York State campground that dreams are made of. We are big fans. And while we’re talking camping, those going out this spring or summer are going to want a comfortable chair, and for just that, we can’t recommend the GCI Outdoor Kickback Rocker Chair from REI enough. And while in the Woodstock area, we also recommend checking out Mower’s Flea Market, which we think is one of the most charming flea markets in the entire state of New York.
