Oftentimes here at Only In New York, we like to highlight the newest businesses and restaurants that are up and running here in our state. With that said, we equally love to showcase all of the incredible eateries that have been long-standing in New York — feeding generations of our residents and continuing to operate even under the most uncertain of times. If you’re ready to get a taste of history and to learn more about our state, then be sure to see what’s so special about the Ransom Steele Tavern.
All the way down in Tioga County where you're out along New York's Southern Tier, a unique little slice of history sits on the corner of Main Street in Apalachin at the Ransom Steele Tavern.
Originally built in 1830 as the Ransom Hotel by Ransom Steele, the building has served many purposes over the course of its history, one being a premier watering hole during the Civil War!
Today, the historic building in Apalachin that you see before you is now one of the area's best places to visit when it comes to enjoying live music, amazing food, and tasty drinks.
While during the COVID-19 pandemic you may not be able to sit down and dine inside the restaurant, Ransom Steele Tavern is still offering all sorts of savory eats and dishes for pick-up.
Using fresh ingredients and homemade recipes, you'll be able to order up everything from a variety of pizzas to Angus beef burgers that are topped off with all sorts of amazing goods.
If you're ready to treat yourself to the amazing food that's coming out of a charming piece of restored history, then be sure to see what's on the menu at the Ransom Steele Tavern.
