Out of all the towns within New York’s Finger Lakes region, it can easily be said that one of, if not the most, well-known towns is Watkins Glen. Right in Schuyler County, most people associate this charming village with the fact that it resides along the southern shores of Seneca Lake and the fact that it’s home to one of the country’s most famous state parks. While we certainly love to explore all of the waterfalls in town and to hang out along the waterfront, there’s another reason why you’ll want to head to Watkins Glen this year – check it out!
It's a bird, it's a plane, no - it's actually one of the world's best automobile racetracks, Watkins Glen International.
On April 6th and 7th during Opening Weekend, visitors can grab $25 dollar tickets at the gate and take their own car for three laps around this historic 3.4-mile world-class racetrack.
Throughout the season, New Yorkers can head to The Glen to see some of the best drivers in the world race on the track. Talk about an exciting way to spend the day in your own home state!
With drivers and cars from all around the country driving along the track since it was originally built in 1956, there's lots of exciting history to be enjoyed here at The Glen.
So go and explore a new side of a town you may already be familiar with because a day at Watkins Glen International is a day that you'll always remember.
