If you haven’t noticed yet, here at Only In Your State we love all things pickle-related. From out in Buffalo and all the way down to New York City, you can find a variety of pickle-themed restaurants and destinations that will get your stomach rumbling and craving something salty and sweet. If you love the idea of heading to places like these, then you can’t miss out on stopping at New York’s very own international pickle festival that will set your pickle-loving heart on fire.
Make your way to the small town of Rosendale and you'll find that on November 18th, the town's Recreation Center turns into a complete pickle paradise.
What started off as a friendly pickle party amongst friends in town in the 1990s has now turned into a festival that attracts roughly 5,000 visitors to this area of New York each year.
Featuring more than just the average pickle, Rosendale's International Pickle Festival has a delicious variety of all-things pickled that will get your stomach rumbling and wanting to try everything.
Aside from all of the amazing local vendors that come to the festival, pickle-themed merchandise and balloons, there are also quite a few events and activities that you'll get a kick out of witnessing.
Contestants of the pickle eating contest will have to eat a small jar of Mt. Olive pickle spears - a sight that's always hilarious and downright interesting to see.
For the Pickle Juice Drinking Contest, contestants will have to drink a 24 ounce jar of pickle juice through a big bore straw - an event that makes some of our New Yorkers realize that their love for pickles doesn't run as deep as they thought it did.
So if all of these pickle-themed events sound right up your alley, then mark you calendars - because the Rosendale International Pickle Festival is Happening Sunday, November 18th and you won't want to miss it.
Admission to the Rosendale International Pickle Festival is only $5 dollars for adults to enter, with anyone 15 years old or younger free to enter as long as they're accompanied by an adult or guardian. The Rosendale International Pickle Festival will take place at the Rosendale Recreation Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1055 Route 32 South, Rosendale, New York, 12472.
