With more than 1,500-miles of shoreline making up Long Island, you’ll find plenty of reasons to head out to this region of New York. While you may think to head towards the mountains during the month of October to get a good look at all of our fall colors, if you keep scrolling you’ll quickly see that there’s one downright delicious reason to head out to the town of Oyster Bay this month. Grab your appetite and hit the road, because it’s time to attend the 36th Annual Oyster Festival.
Happening at the end of October, The 36th Annual Oyster Festival in Oyster Bay is officially here.
Considered to be one of the larget waterfront festivals and the top free event on the East Coast, this two-day event draws out more than 100,000 people each year.
You’ll be able to find things like crab cakes, fish tacos, fried oysters, lobster mac and cheese, oyster stew, sea scallops, seafood gumbo, and so much more at the Food Court.
If you somehow need a break for all of the oysters and seafood, you can also check out things like roasted corn, pizza, burgers, potato twisters, kielbasa, empanadas, funnel cakes, bananas foster, and plenty of drinks.
Once you're done filling yourself up with the most delicious oysters that you can find in New York, you'll be able to explore all the other exciting things that make up the Oyster Festival.
...and there will also be more than 135 artisans from all across the country set up under the festival's three huge tents along the bay, where you'll find hand-crafted goods for sale.
If you plan on bringing the entire family, you'll be able to keep even the youngest of guests occupied with an entire Family Fun Zone along the waterfront and more amusement park rides than you'll know what to do with.
Or you choose to eat your way through this festival and watch all of the fun contests that are held, there's plenty of ways for you to have fun the weekend of October 19th.
