For many of us New Yorkers, we prefer to shop locally as often as we can, avoiding the chaos of big-box stores whenever it’s possible. Taking advantage of the perks that come with small town living, New York has a ton of old-time general stores that will not only take you back into the past but send you home with some amazing goods that you won’t be able to find just anywhere.
A historical gem that you can't drive by without stopping in, The Olde Country Store out in the Finger Lakes has everything you could dream of.
Dating all the way back to 1849, The Olde Country Store has had several different names throughout time but has always remained a favorite place to visit in the small town of North Cohocton.
Just 15-minutes away from the southern shores of Canandaigua Lake, this country store is filled with a variety of goods and products from local suppliers that you won't be able to find outside of this region.
But if you're looking to represent your region and showcase how much you love the Finger Lakes, then you'll want to check out The Olde Country Store's 'Green Heart of the Finger Lakes' merchandise.
Picking through your favorites, you can bag up everything like Frooties, butterscotch balls and salted caramel sweets that you'll start snacking on as soon as you get in the car.
Just a skip away from some of our other favorite small towns and attractions, you'll want to include a trip to The Olde Country Store in North Cohocton the next time you find yourself out in this area.
Open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, you can stop by The Olde Country Store to do some shopping any day of the week except for Mondays. Easy to spot and right on the corner in town, you can learn more about The Olde Country Store and all of the local products that they carry if you click here.
