Just when we were starting to feel like we’ve done a bit of damage to our New York waterfall bucket list, Madison County blesses us with a brand new park that features not one, but two waterfalls. Talk about amazing! Unveiling the park during their soft opening this week, Delphi Falls County Park has plans to grow even further – but here’s what you can expect to see currently at New York’s newest park.

Just a half-hour outside of Syracuse in the town of New Woodstock, Delphi Falls County Park can now be visited at 2006 Cardner Road, New Woodstock, NY 13122.

Only acquired by Madison County as of this past May, over the last several months the County Departments have worked hard to get this park open for our residents.

This summer the park has created an ADA accessible trail that leads to the base of the lower falls in the park, a path that's made up of stone dust and leads you to a unique view.

So, what's the story behind Madison County so recently acquiring this 60-acre property in New Woodstock? Previously owned by retired Syracuse University Professor Harold Jones, Jones ended up selling the land to Madison County at the beginning of this year for $150,000 - just a fraction of what Jones had paid for the land himself.

Jones stated that he wanted the beautiful property turned into a nature preserve so that the rest of New York could enjoy this stunning place as well. With an official grand opening ceremony happening sometime in the fall, visitors can explore Delphi Falls County Park all year-round from sunrise until dusk.
