Memorial Day Weekend here in New York usually marks the opening of some of our favorite seasonal attractions. Whether you’ve been longing for your local pool to open so you can have a place to cool off or you’re just anxiously awaiting on the opening of one of our other beloved destinations, this time of year tends to be quite exciting for all. If you have plans to head up north for this long holiday weekend, then take a look at why you’ll want to consider planning a trip to this one epic mountain.
During this time of year, the Adirondack Mountains become one of the most popular regions to visit in New York.
If you visit the small town of Wilmington, you'll find that our state's 5th tallest mountain just so happens to be one that offers quite a few ways for you to make your way up it.
Made up of both man-made steps and natural stone, the trek up Whiteface Mountain's staircase isn't one that's terribly long but can often be a bit draining for some.
After undergoing an extensive renovation since 2017 and remaining closed all last year, this weekend Whiteface Mountain will be unveiling its new elevator.
One of the most exciting parts of the new elevator is the fact that it now features glass panels, allowing passengers to actually see the mountain's granite. Woah!
Set to open on Saturday morning at 8:45 a.m., the elevator will remain open for Memorial Day Weekend and then officially open for the season on June 1st.
Attracting tens of thousands of adventurers each year, if you've been anxiously awaiting on the reopening of Whiteface Mountain's elevator - wait no longer!
