Nine years later, Bob and Marge McGregor decided to open a winery that would put their Vitis vinifera grapes, which were less common in the region and typically grown in Europe and Asia, to the test.
It’s one of the few wineries in the United States growing Saperavi grapes, which used to be primarily grown in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia. The combination of Saperavi with Sereksiya Charni is known as “Black Russion Red,” one of the vineyard’s signature blends.
While the McGregors started out specializing in Vitis vinifera grapes, the vineyard now grows a wide variety of grapes, including Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and more.
Head to this vineyard and enjoy a wine tasting like you never have before; the quality of wine, the views of Keuka Lake and the picturesque vineyard will give you a truly unforgettable experience.
Like many wineries in the area, the upside to visiting McGregor Vineyard is its proximity to a number of other vineyards and wineries in the area. Head a few miles south to Ravines Wine Cellars and Domaine Leseurre Winery, or head north to Barrington Cellars.
