When it comes to dining around the state of New York, you’ll find that our residents often like to factor in how much bang for their buck they’ll get when they’re deciding where to eat. So when we tell you that the most famous menu item from one of the longest standing restaurants in our state will cost you less than a dollar, we won’t be surprised to see your eyes light up with joy. Taking you to the heart of one of our favorite cities, see why this delicious joint has managed to stay open for so long.
Open since 1932, Famous Lunch is one of the longest standing eateries in the Capital Region and all of New York.
Like most of the classic eateries you would dine at years ago, those who come to Famous Lunch can choose to sit up at the counter where you'll get to watch the magic happen or take a seat at one of the booths lining the adjacent wall.
The hot dogs themselves are like most of the mini dogs you'll find around the Capital Region, but Famous Lunch stands out from all the rest with their savory Zippy Sauce.
Also, Famous Lunch never disappoints with their drink selection, giving you favorites like RC Cola and chocolate milk to pair up with your world famous mini hot dogs.
Open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., stop into this historic hot dog joint to get a taste of the Capital Region at Famous Lunch on Congress Street.
Think you could devour a whole plate of these mini dogs? Well, perhaps you should try beating their record! In 2014, Amos Hall devoured 40 of these mini hot dogs in 30 minutes, while a team of 38 RSE Fraternity students ate a total of 841 mini dogs back in 2012. Woah baby!
