Stargazing in New York can be difficult. We’ve got a lot of big cities filled with bright lights and the light pollution makes it hard to see the stars. Many people don’t know that one of the best observatories in the country is located right here in New York. The little town of Frewsburg is tucked away in the southeast corner of the state and it’s home to the Martz-Kohl Observatory. The observatory is an educational site that frequently hosts nearby college classes. However, you don’t have to be a university student to get in on the fun. The observatory also hosts weekly open nights where anyone can come in and use the equipment to get a glimpse at the night sky!
For more information about this fantastic observatory in New York, check out its website. There is a calendar of days in which the observatory is open to the public, and even a weather forecast so you can figure out what days are expected to have the clearest skies.
