Traveling around the country once again, the Water Lantern Festival will be making not one but two stops here in the Empire State. Not too long ago, we shared on our Only In Buffalo page how this enchanting festival will be heading to the Queen City on Saturday, July 1st. If you can’t make the trek all the way out to Western New York though, don’t worry, the Water Lantern Festival will be making one more stop in New York before the summer’s over!
Taking place out along the Long Island Sound, the Water Lantern Festival will be coming to the North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington again this year.
Happening on August 10th, if you're unfamiliar with the Water Lantern Festival and didn't attend this event at the park last year, let us fill you in on what's to be expected.
Each ticket to the festival will also come along with a floating lantern, marker to decorate your lantern with, commemorative drawstring bag, and a wristband.
The gates to the festival will open to ticket holders at 5 p.m., whereafter until 9 p.m. guests will get to enjoy music, activities, and delicious food from local food trucks in attendance.
Releasing a sea of glowing lanterns into the sound, you'll be amazed by the sight of this Disney-like view. It's almost impossible to not feel like you've stepped into Tangled!
All the lanterns released into the sound are eco-friendly and made out of wood and rice paper, so there's no need to worry about any impact on the water or beach.
In fact, the cost of your ticket actually covers the cost of collecting and removing all the lanterns from the sound after the festival ends at 9 p.m. The Water Lantern Festival even cleans up any previously produced trash - ensuring that each festival site is left cleaner than it was before the event even arrived!
With upcoming dates selling out quickly, you'll want to grab your tickets to the Water Lantern Festival on Long Island and in Buffalo before it's too late.
So, how much will it cost to attend this event? Well, that depends on when you purchase your ticket. For the event on Long Island, if you buy your ticket before June 12th, you'll only have to pay $25 dollars. After that, until July 31st you can pay the 'Regular' admission price of $30 dollars, or the 'Late' admission price of $35 dollars until August 9th. If there happen to be any tickets left on the day of the event, it'll cost you $40 dollars to attend.
