With New York acting as the perfect outdoor playground – full of incredible trails and places to explore, you’ll find that a good chunk of our residents like to spend their spare time hiking around our state. Always looking for a new place to adventure to, we’ve got one hike in store for you that you’ll wish you had known about sooner. Giving you the most magical hiking partner that you could ever ask for, read about how on this one farm in Upstate New York you can walk through the woods with a new furry friend.
Lo and behold, Ballston Spa's very own Dakota Ridge Farm in Saratoga County.
Home to roughly 50 llamas, Dakota Ridge Farm sits on over 40-acres of land that's made up of serene surroundings that include woods, ponds, and animal pastures.
Working to spread the word about llamas and why they're so special, Dakota Ridge Farm invites guests to enjoy services like their Working Farm Tours - where you'll get to learn about llamas, and even brush, feed, pet and walk with these amazing creatures.
The farm also offers the chance to spend the day helping out with Llama Shearing, only offered in May and allowing you to take home a small bag of wool with you once the day is complete!
More special than any other hike that you've ever experienced in Upstate New York, visitors can also stop along the way at the farm's picnic tables where you can take a break and enjoy a bite to eat.
Once you pay a visit to Dakota Ridge Farms, you'll fall in love. The beautiful llamas that all are lucky enough to call this place home are wonderful and will win you over with their adorable personalities if you let them. Generally offered during the day between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. when the weather is best, it only costs adults $25.00 dollars and children 15 years and younger $15.00 dollars to experience the farm's llama hike. If you want to experience their amazing trek's, you can RSVP to their email info@dakotaridgefarm.com .
