This fairly unknown, secluded state park near Ogdensburg is one of New York state’s least visited; it had only 4,268 visitors last year. If you’re looking for some place to get away from it all and especially from other people, then this may be the park for you. Eel Weir State Park offers camping, fishing, a boat launch, picnic areas and more, all on 16 acres. It’s only open from Memorial Day to Labor Day so you’d better hurry! Eel Weir State Park may have a strange name, but there's nothing strange about this park. It's on the Oswegatchie River in the St. Lawrence Valley, about eight miles southwest of Ogdensburg.

The entire park runs along the shore of the river, which provides easy river access for fishing. This area is known for great bass fishing in particular.
