If you’ve been living in our state long or have been a reader of Only In New York, then you know just how common it is to find hidden gems in the most unusual of places. But imagine a world where instead of walking into your local laundromat and seeing nothing but half-empty vending machines filled with old chips and candy, you saw a glorious donut shop that was straight out of your sweet tooth’s dreams. Sounds too convenient to be true right? Well, head up north to the Adirondacks and guess again.
Get away from it all and head up north to Park Street in the small Adirondack town of Tupper Lake.
While The Washboard has long been a favorite place for locals and campers during our summer season to come and do laundry, it's the delicious donuts that really keep people coming back.
People return to this donut shop time and time again because of things like the shop's amazing homemade frostings and maple treats that will take your taste buds on a ride.
If you thought this unsuspecting shop couldn't get any better, well it can! When the owners found themselves with extra space, they also added a gift shop to the store. So not only can you do laundry and get something to eat, you can also shop around for handmade items and local souvenirs to take home with you. Every laundromat should be like this!
