If you’re not ready to let go of summer just yet then don’t worry, you’re not alone! There are still plenty of us who are clinging to every inch of sunshine and summer vibes. But as things come to an end, you may begin to look for an exciting way to send off the season before fall comes in and completely takes over. A small-town event that puts on quite the big show, clear your calendar to make room for this marvelous kite festival that’s happening at the end of September.
A fun event that the whole family will enjoy, this year the Cherry Valley Kite Festival will be held the weekend of September 21st.
At the Outdoor Fly, you'll find an assortment of people — from full-blow kite enthusiasts to young families looking to have fun and fly their own, smaller kites.
A festival that's been put on by the Cherry Valley Artworks organization since 2006, seeing this small town's sky full of head-turning kites is something you won't want to miss.
Wondering what else will be included in this weekend-long festival? Well for starters, on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Old School Gym in Cherry Valley there will be a Kite Building Workshop for people of all ages, costing only $3 dollars to participate, and at 7 p.m. at the gym, they’ll host their Indoor Kite Fly. Exactly as it sounds, the Indoor Kite Fly gives you the opportunity to see if you can really fly a kite indoors!
As for the rest of the weekend? On Saturday at 9 a.m. before the Outdoor Fly, there will be another Kite Building Workshop at the Old School Gym except this one is $5 dollars, includes all materials, and is only for children. After Saturday’s exciting events, you can also enjoy the Pancake Breakfast at the Cherry Valley Firehouse from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
