Hiding on the edge of Otsego Lake at Point Judith, you’ll surprisingly discover this miniature castle in New York you never knew existed:

Built in 1876, Kingfisher Tower stands at 60-feet tall and is 20-square feet.

Built by Edward Clark and designed by Henry H. Hardenbergh, the tower once featured an incredible drawbridge. Only now remaining through stories, the drawbridge, portcullis and door were all made out of solid oak. Wow!
The stunning feature of this Cooperstown lake was actually built to make the body of water look more attractive.

The miniature castle is built out of stones, many of which are from the shores of Otsego Lake. The windows are made with stained glass, an extra detail that makes the tower look that much more magnificent.

Pictured above, you can see the charming boat from which you'll be able to view Kingfisher Tower. The tower is on private property that is surrounded by a large barbed wire fencing, leaving it to only be truly viewed from the water and other areas along the lake. Glimmerglass Queen Boat Tours run 7 days a week at 11AM, 1PM, 3PM and 5PM!

During our colder months once all of the leaves have fallen off of the trees, the tower is slightly visible from Highway 30! If you've taken this drive and wondered what magical structure it was peaking through the trees, now you know!
