Out in the city of Rochester, you’ll find that New Yorkers tend to do things their own way. When it comes to food, we like to think outside of the box and feast away on delights like garbage plates – a dish that, trust us, is far from actual garbage. With that said, it would only make sense that we also partake in holiday traditions that are also slightly out of the ordinary. Lighting up the city in a whole new way, see why there’s nothing else quite like this holiday keg tree!
A tradition that's started within the last handful of years here in Rochester, December 6th marks the annual Keg Tree Lighting event at the Genesee Brew House.
Since this thirst-inducing event is everything that it sounds to be, a holiday tree lighting event except instead of your typical fir tree you have a tree made of empty kegs.
Between the actual tree lighting festivities, you'll be able to check out two Genesee bee trucks, as well as the other food trucks like Rob’s Kabobs, Wraps on Wheels, Bay Vista Taqueria, Tuscan Wood Fire Pizza Catering, Rochester Kettle Corn, and others.
Another reason we're so fond of this event is that while it's free, visitors are encouraged to do things like bring gently-used hats and gloves to donate to the Mayor Lovely Warren's Bringing Christmas Downtown Coast Drive.
Featuring a limited beer release of Cinnamon Cream Ale, there are so many reasons why you won't want to miss out on attending this year's Keg Tree Lighting event at Rochester's Genesee Brew House!
