Only a half-hour outside of Rochester, the Jell-O Gallery is one of Genesee County's most unique and intrigue hidden gems.
Putting the history of America's most famous dessert on display for all to see, many are unaware of the fact that Jell-O was created here in Western New York during the late 1800s.
Originally created by a carpenter in the town of Le Roy by the name of Pearle White, the trademarked good was sold for a mere $450 dollars to a local man by the name of Frank Woodward who would go on to master advertising Jell-O and growing the brand.
Today, dessert fanatics and curious New Yorkers all travel out to Le Roy to learn more about how one of the world's most well-known desserts came right out of the Empire State.
While also learning about interesting facts like how the residents of Salt Lake City, Utah happen to consume more lime-flavored gelatin than any other city in the county!
Or how about the fact that back in 1993, technicians of St. Jerome Hospital in Batavia tested a bowl of lime Jell-O and proved the bowl had the same brain waves as adult men and women?
