The Genesee Riverway Trail is a paved trail that runs along the Genesee River for around six miles. The trail is great for biking, walking and running, and comes complete with some really great views of the river.
The flat trail is great for all skill levels and takes around two hours to complete in total. The trail starts in the city of Rochester and moves into the towns of Gates and Chili. It finally ends in the town of Sweden, New York.
The trail gives pedestrians the ability to walk alongside the Genesee River, its scenic gorge, three waterfalls, eight pedestrian bridges and a whopping eleven parks.
The Genesee Riverway Trail makes for a perfect day trip. It’s also the site of a number of interesting historical locations, among them the Mount Morris Dam and the Erie Canal.
