Calling all New Yorkers, are you ready for some heartwarming news? Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, while all of our state’s attractions are closed to the public, big things are still happening at places like our well-loved aquariums. Taking you all the way out to Niagara County, see why this long-standing aquarium recently made history here in the Empire State in the most adorable way possible.
Founded back in 1965, the Aquarium of Niagara is one of the many incredible attractions that you'll find tucked away within the city of Niagara Falls.
Those who were lucky enough to visit this aquarium before the state-wide lock-down can tell you that seeing these penguins up-close is an experience that you'll never forget.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the staff members of the Aquarium of Niagara have been doing daily live streams on their Facebook page, showcasing different animals and areas of the aquarium each day.
That's right! In April of 2020, the Aquarium of Niagara welcomed its first set of penguin chicks since the last successful hatching that took place back in 2006. Woah!
The gender of the chicks is currently unknown, and while a blood test will be performed at a later date to find out, for now the chicks are being called Alpha and Beta - making their debut online for the world to see.
The parents of the two newest residents of the Aquarium of Niagara are PJ, Jr. and Blanca who arrived here in the spring of 2019 all the way from Seattle.
So, if you're looking to stay up to date with all that's happening with these two chicks and to take a look at the Aquarium of Niagara's daily live streams, be sure to follow their official Facebook page!
