As often as it may feel like that we’re hearing about some of our favorite railroads closing down, there are still plenty of rails to ride here in the Empire State. Recently we spoke about how there’s a handful of charming fall train rides that you can experience while our foliage is out and showing off for all of us residents. But now that we’ve entered the month of October, you might be looking for something a bit more spooky and possibly even hair-raising. That’s where the Rails of Terror come into play!
Departing from Kingston, the Catskill Mountain Railroad is one of our favorite rails to ride here in New York.
But instead of hopping aboard the Catskill Mountain Railroad for a charming fall foliage ride, how about you try something a bit more spooktacular this month?
Featured throughout the month of October and just in time for Halloween, this year the railroad has a Rails of Terror ride that is bound to leave you pleasantly frightened.
Instead of visiting your local haunted house for a thrill, try riding on a vintage train car that's filled with creepy creatures and you'll even get to learn about some of the area's local ghosts.
An event that's best for adults and teens, this is one train ride that you might actually be anxious to get off of. With dates featured between October 12th and the 27th, you should have plenty of options available to squeeze the Rails of Terror into your haunted schedule this month.
