Governors Ball: Best Music Festival In New York

Taking place in New York City, Governors Ball Music Festival isn’t just one of the biggest music festivals on the East Coast, it’s one of the biggest music festivals in America. For this year’s edition, it moves from its previous home of Citi Field to nearby Flushing Meadows Park in Queens. No matter where its location may be, Governors Ball provides a winning combination of world class talent and hospitality. It’s the best music festival in New York. It takes place between June 9 and June 11, 2023.

The first edition of Governors Ball was held in 2011 at Governors Island in New York City. In 2012, it moved to Randall's Island, where it would stay for many years. In 2021, the festival switched locations to the parking lot of Citi Field, where it would also be held in 2022. This year is the first time it will take place at Flushing Meadows Park.

Past headliners have included everyone from The Strokes to Billie Eilish to OutKast to Stevie Nicks to Flume. The festival provides a multi-generational, multi-genre mix of music. There is truly something for everyone.

This year's headliners include Kendrick Lamar, Lizzo, and Odesza. Also performing, among many others: Lil Nas X, Haim and Pusha T.

In addition to all that great music, Governors Ball also has plenty of other experiences on the grounds. A food program includes over 50 vendor options, and, for those over 21, there are plenty of alcoholic beverage choices on site.

Located near Citi Field, Flushing Meadows Park is full of trees and grassy fields, which will provide plenty of shade and comfort for festival attendees trying to relax a bit between catching sets from their favorite artists.

The festival's accessibility within New York City is one of it's perks. To get there, you can simply take the 7 train all the way to Mets-Willets point. No rental car or Uber needed!
