Just because a restaurant also includes a gas station doesn’t mean it can’t be incredibly tasty. Many might have their preconceived notions about how good a duel eatery and gas station can be, but we are here to say that, in the case of The Grist Mill in Parish, New York, those people would be wrong. It’s a delicious oasis for all travelers, and it is worth a stop for anyone going through New York on Interstate 81 or moving through the greater Syracuse area. It might be the best gas station restaurant in New York State. To learn more, keep reading, below.
The Grist Mill specializes in family-style dining, and can be accessed from Interstate 81, exit 33 in Parish, New York. It’s a cozy spot for both travelers and locals alike.
They are additionally located off of County Route 26 on the snowmobile trail. For anyone who likes to snowmobile, the restaurant makes for a great pit stop to unload or load gear. They have a large parking lot that’s perfect for tractor trailers, commercial trucks, buses, light trucks and cars.
Then there is, of course, the gas. The Grist Mill has Sunoco Gasoline and Diesel fuel, and they accept most major credit cards and a good amount of the major fuel cards.
The food at The Grist Mill is classic diner fare, done really well. For breakfast, we recommend The 18 Wheeler, a very filling combination of two eggs, two pancakes, two slices of bacon, and two sausage links. It’s under $12 for all of that!
For lunch or dinner, diners can’t go wrong with one of their many burger choices. Just check out their classic Mill Burger: it’s a jumbo double burger, served on a Kaiser roll, with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and Russian dressing. And, again, the price is right. Under $11!
For a great meal, and an affordable tank of gas, we recommend The Grist Mill, the best gas station restaurant in New York. While in the area, why not also check out one or two attractions from this list of the best outdoor adventures in Syracuse that we made. And, for those looking for a hotel around Parish, we recommend Talwater Lodge Altmar, which is part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton.
