New York’s spring season is off to a chilly start, with many of our regions still getting hit with sporadic snowstorms. But this isn’t anything our residents aren’t used to! Even though we may be scraping fresh snow off of our cars in the morning, we know that before the flick of a switch… we’ll be knee-deep in spring.
Reminding us that absence indeed does makes the heart grow fonder, we can’t wait for warmer weather to unveil itself so we can enjoy magical hikes through secret gardens. Take a look at what we have to look forward to below!
Waiting for you on the property of the Mohonk Mountain House, this secret garden in New York is worth hiking to.
Visitors who purchase a Hiking Trails Pass for the day will leave their cars in the parking lot next to the Gate House and begin their 2-mile long hike.
Taking you through the woods and up along Garden Road, the hike to get up to the Mohonk Mountain House grounds is moderate but shouldn't leave you feeling too tired.
Worth every penny and inch of effort, on the left-hand side of the road, just before you reach the Mohonk House and Lake Mohonk, you'll see an enchanting garden waiting for you.

Full of winding pathways, you'll get to walk through this Victorian Garden that's unlike any other in New York.
And no, your eyes weren't fooling you! There's an actual treehouse that has a spiral staircase and sitting area at the top, giving you a bird's eye view of this mesmerizing garden.

With something magical waiting for you around each and every turn, the garden has plenty of benches for you to sit on and even has a maze for you to explore!
Throughout the warmer seasons, the Mohonk Mountain House hosts a variety of events that give you a chance to further dive into what the garden has to offer.
And at the end of each summer, the resort hosts their annual Garden Holiday Event, a nearly week-long event full of workshops and hands-on demonstrations.
Celebrating its 82nd Garden Holiday Event, this year it will be held from August 26th through the 31st. In the past, the Garden Holiday has been filled with fun events like Teacup Fairy Garden Workshops, Flower Crown Making Demonstrations, and Centerpiece Arrangement Demonstrations that will bring out the inner artist in you!
