Spotting an ice sculptor and watching them hone their craft at a park during the holidays is always a treat, but New York residents and visitors will have the chance to see an entire festival’s worth of ice sculptures in January. While restrictions will limit Lake George’s Funky Ice Festival this year, it will be up and running in less than a month with some of the prettiest sculptures you’ll find this holiday season. Here are just a few reasons why this ice sculpture haven is a must-visit holiday destination.
This year, the Adirondack Pub and Brewery will host Lake George’s Funky Ice Fest. For a few nights, this ice heaven includes all kinds of interactive ice sculptures and art.
While this year’s event won’t allow favorites like the frozen beer pong table, it’s a great event for those who appreciate skilled artists and want to head out on a unique holiday adventure.
This year’s event will run for the last two weekends of January (Jan. 22-23, Jan. 29-30), from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Fridays and 3 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Saturdays.
No matter where you travel to in New York this holiday to see some ice sculptors in action, you probably won’t find an ice Yoda like the one that has been featured at the Funky Ice Fest.
The event usually features an ice-art gallery which guests can peruse while sipping on the brewery’s beers. While alcohol won’t be part of this year’s event, there will certainly be some incredible sculptures for visitors to enjoy.
Exploring the wealth of ice-art at the holiday festival will have you on the lookout for ice sculpting classes near you. You might even be able to sit back and enjoy a game of chess.
One of the best parts of the festival’s location is that Lake George is a great town to explore, enjoy lakeside views and peruse a great selection of eateries. Once you’ve left the festival, head to a great local restaurant like Lookout Cafe or East Cove Restaurant.
