As spring starts to kick into full gear, flowers start to bloom. In the New York City borough of The Bronx, The New York Botanical Garden has one of the best collections of flowers in the state, and it makes for a great place to both take in nature and get a little exercise—the garden is fully walkable, and perfectly for a spring stroll. It’s one of the best hikes for viewing flowers in New York State. To learn more, keep reading below.
The New York Botanical Garden has a 1.8 mile loop trail that most would deem to be a fairly easy hike. It only takes around 40 minutes to complete, but it’s not made for anyone in a rush—stop and smell the flowers, literally.
The trail is great for walkers, joggers and even birders. Though the trail is open year-round, it is especially great in the spring. Sadly, dog owners are not allowed to bring their pets on this hike.
Flowers in the collection at the garden include Japanese Apricots, Magnolias, Daffodils, Lilacs, Tulips, Flowering Dogwoods, and a whole lot more. Chances are that by the end of the hike, all guests will have found a favorite flower.
The garden is open between Tuesday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and costs $28 for adults to enter. Senior and student admission is a reduced $25, and children go for $12. Trust us, though, the price of admission is very much worth it to check out all of the flowers on display at this garden.
Whether a New York City resident or a tourist, a visit to the New York Botanical Garden should be put on the bucket list. It’s the best hike for viewing flowers in New York. While in The Bronx, why not also check out this cafeteria-style spot that serves amazing seafood? And for those looking for a place to stay in New York City, we recommend Hyatt Centric Times Square.
