Are there any Christmas trains in New York State?
There are a couple of whimsical Christmas trains in New York State that make for the perfect holiday adventure for the entire family. Our favorite is the Medina Railroad Polar Express, which begins towards the end of November and running through the first half of December. This train ride with Santa lasts for about an hour and offers lots of great photo ops before you board and while on the train, you'll hear songs as well as readings from the Polar Express, and pajamas are encouraged to make you feel like you're bringing the book to life. And we can't forget to mention the cool glass of milk and big cookie you get with your ticket price!
Does New York State have any Christmas zoo lights?
Christmas lights are already so cool, but when you put them inside a zoo and make them animal themed, it's all the more exciting. There are a few different New York Zoo lights events that are all worth the visit but we think the best one is the Holiday Lights At the Bronx Zoo. With five different zones themed after different regions of the world, you will not believe the sheer number of life sized light up animal lanterns you will see as you stroll through the park. There is also a walk through garden full of delightful flower lanterns, an animated light show, and lots of snacks and drinks to enjoy while you wander and wonder.
What are the best drive through light shows in New York State?
If you like the idea of absorbing some holiday cheer without having to step out of your cozy car, there are some great drive through Christmas lights displays in New York state. Lights on the Lake in Liverpool is one of our favorites. This is one of the longest drive through light displays in the state and they've been at it for over 30 years now. You can tune your radio to a dedicated station that will provide the perfect soundtrack for this two mile long winter wonderland drive. There are holiday scenes made of twinkly lights, massive arches, and so much holiday cheer!
