New York State is full of amazing street fairs. No matter what your interest or your geographical location, chances are there is an amazing fair accessible near you. We had a hard time picking three of our favorites, but this list below should serve as a jumping off point for you to explore all the state has to offer, from big cities to smaller towns. These are some of the best street fairs in New York.
Taking place on July 15th and 16th in the town of Elmira, this festival takes a focus on art made on the sidewalk with chalk. As you walk through the town’s historic downtown, you can take in all of these beautiful—if temporary—art pieces made on the ground with humble materials.
There are also plenty of regional craft and artwork booths, as well as a number of local restaurants to explore. If that’s not enough, there's pop-up galleries, live music and a whole lot more. It’s great for an afternoon, or or even a multiple-day jaunt.
This legendary festival in New York City’s Little Italy is 11 days of fun, food and activities dedicated to keeping Neapolitan traditions going strong. It is additionally a testament to faith, with fairgoers honoring the Patron Saint of Naples, Italy. It started all the way back in 1929.
There are plenty of amazing food and processions to be seen over the course of this festival, which happens every September—this year from the 14th to the 24th. Don’t miss the third annual zeppole eating competition!
This September 29th through October 1st marks the 41st annual Apple Harvest Festival held in Downtown Ithaca. If you love apples, you will be in heaven!
At this festival, you can enjoy all sorts of apples and apple products. Did someone say apple cider donuts?
This summer and fall, head out to a street fair. It’s really one of the best ways to experience the full cultural splendor of New York State. If you are looking for even more outdoor activities to do around the state, we put together a list of 12 short and beautiful hikes that are under three miles, and perfect for the novice hiker.
