One ghost town that makes for a great fall outing is Doodletown. Located within Bear Mountain State Park, the ghost town of Doodletown is in a beautiful area that has some great hiking trails. Not only will you get to learn about the history of the area, you’ll also be able to see some of the best fall foliage in New York.

Doodletown was first settled in the 1760s. It was a mining town that also housed several businesses and farms. By the 1920s, there were around 70 homes in the village, with a population of around 350 at its peak.

As the Bear Mountain Park began to develop, many residents of Doodletown moved away. The majority of the structures that made up the town were razed and the rubble buried.

However, you can still see some remnants of the village that was once here.
