I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
It doesn’t get more ‘classic Americana’ than small towns and baseball, and Cooperstown, New York really embodies this nostalgia. Home to the Baseball Hall of Fame, Cooperstown has one of the best Main Streets in the country, with charming shops, family-owned restaurants, and immaculate green spaces. It’s the quintessential American small town, and one of the best day trips you can take in New York.
Located in the foothills of New York's Catskills Mountains, Cooperstown is a winsome little town with just under 2,000 residents.
Cooperstown is home to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, a nonprofit committed to preserving and celebrating America's beloved pastime. This museum is an absolute bucket list must for all fans.
The museum is massive; it features 250,000 photographs, 14,000 hours of moving images and sound recordings, and 40,000 three-dimensional artifacts, for a completely immersive experience that's truly unparalleled.
If you really want to take the experience to the next level, visit the Cooperstown Bat Company Factory for a live bat-making demonstration and tour! The Factory is located at 3152 Co. Road 11, Hartwick, NY, 13348.
Of course, it's not *all* baseball in Cooperstown. The Fenimore Art Museum is one of the city's most extraordinary gems, and features fine collections of American art, James Fenimore Cooper memorabilia, and historic photographs.
Otsego Lake is a beautiful place to relax and wander around, but if you're looking for something a little more active, you can rent a canoe or kayak and spend an afternoon on this splendid little lake!
Before you go, definitely stop by Schneider's Bakery to pick up some donuts for the road. Since 1887, Schneider's has been serving Cooperstown some of the tastiest baked goods around!
