There’s not much better than a cozy dinner during the winter season. With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, many in New York State are likely searching for that perfect restaurant in which to celebrate. For those in the Hudson Valley region of the state, one establishment should be on everybody’s short list: Charlotte’s in Millbrook, New York. It’s perfect for an intimate dinner, no matter what time of the year. It might just be our favorite cozy restaurant in the Hudson Valley. To learn more, keep reading, below.
Charlotte’s is located in the former site of a 19th-Century church. It’s the perfect venue for everything from a romantic dinner to a birthday party. But we especially think that it’s great for couples.
There are multiple ways to dine at Charlotte’s. There’s the wainscoted dining room, which is great for views of the adjacent garden, and then there’s the more cozy bar area, which comes complete with a roaring fire.
Charlotte’s menu changes daily and is filled to the brim with refined cuisine. From their current menu, we recommend the pan seared salmon, which comes with mustard caper sauce, green beans and black rice. Also great is the NY strip with a brandy red wine reduction, seasonal vegetables and mashed potatoes.
Charlotte’s was founded by a husband and wife team, and that love and care comes through in everything the restaurant does. When it comes to an initiate dining destination, it checks all the boxes.
Don’t forget to leave room for desert! Diners won’t be forgetting the chocolate croissant bread pudding with toffee sauce anytime soon, though it will be hard to choose between that and the vanilla crème brûlée, which is made the traditional way, with flamed vanilla custard.
For a great, intimate dinner at a cozy restaurant in the Hudson Valley, check out Charlotte’s. While in the area, why not also check out this amazing castle, which was made using mostly recycled materials. And for those looking for a hotel to stay at in Millbrook, we recommend the Quality Inn Hyde Park, Poughkeepsie North, which is around 10 miles away from the town.
