They may not be as common as they once were, but scattered across the state of New York you can still find plenty of country stores that are up and running. An attraction that you can find in various regions of the Empire State, each country store has something that sets it apart from all of the rest. We’ve previously mentioned how Western New Yorkers have a two-story country store in their backyard, but today we’re here to discuss a gem of the Catskills Mountains. Take a look!
Just along Route 23 in the small mountain town of Windham, the Catskill Mountain Country Store is one of the most darling roadside attractions you'll ever stumble across in New York.
A country store that's been around since the mid-1990s, one of our favorite things about this particular store is how so many of the items within its walls were homemade!
Featuring quite the mix of inventory, the Catskill Mountain Country store of Windham stocks everything from modern toys, unique gifts, and even has its own garden center.
The Catskill Mountain Country Store is also known for keeping quite the mouthwatering aroma, which comes from the fact that this small-town country store has its own restaurant inside of it.
Visitors of the country store will get to scan their eyes across a menu that offers homemade cloud-like pancakes and fresh whipped cream that will make you appreciate the fact that breakfast is served all day long here.
Stopping in here for lunch is always a delicious idea too though, with menu items like their savory half-pound burgers really filling you up before you leave.
So the next time you're driving along Route 23, make sure you don't drive past the Catskill Mountain Country Store in Windham without stopping in for a bite to eat.
When you aren't making use of the in-house restaurant or shopping through the inventory that makes up the Catskill Mountain Country Store, you might also notice that outside there are miles and miles of walking paths that you can go explore. The Catskill Mountain Country Store is located at 5510 Route 23, Windham, NY 12496. The country store is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 8 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., while the restaurant is open Monday, Thursday, Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
