The amount of different cultures co-existing and intermingling within the five boroughs of New York City is staggering. There is simply no other city like it. But what if you condensed all of that diversity and put it in a single event? Then you would have the NYC Multicultural Festival. Taking place on June 3rd and then on June 17, the multicultural festival in New York is the self-proclaimed “largest showcase of different cultures of the world in one place at one time.” It’s the best the city has to offer, and it is free to enter!
Started in 2010, the NYC Multicultural Festival is a tribute to the incredibly diverse array of cultures and customs that exit in New York City.
The first day of the festival takes place on June 3rd at Jackie Robinson Park in Harlem. If you attend, you will be exposed to a variety of live performances, cultural dances, international cuisine and artisan crafts.
The second day of the festival takes place on June 17 at St. Nicholas Avenue in Harlem. That day features two stages of live music and dance, a DJ and live art making activities.
The festival also features a Children's Pavilion, which is filled with activities for the whole family, including crafts, face painting and live perfomances.
The festival calls itself a "musical journey around the world" and features everything from Irish jigs to Broadway musicals to the Afrobeat of Nigeria. There is something for everyone to like, and something new for everyone to discover.
It's truly amazing that such a fun and educational festival is completely free to the public. Whether you are a resident or the city or coming from out of town, it's a deal that can't be missed.
If you are looking for a family-friendly day of entertainment and cultural exchange in New York City, the NYC Multicultural Festival is a perfect choice. The 2023 theme is “Unity” and you can pick up your free tickets now. While you are in New York City, why not check out one of the world’s largest department stores or this secret, hidden rainforest located inside of an office building.
