Seeing all the different areas of Buffalo illuminated for the holidays is one of our favorite parts of this cheerful season, putting a real twinkle in our eye as we explore the city. If you’ve been seeking out a magical destination and light displays that will wow you, we have the perfect half-hour road trip to take up to Niagara County to see one of our state’s most beautiful shrines. Only a quick drive away, see for yourself how enchanting this place is once winter rolls around.
Each year, the Roman Catholic Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima puts on a dazzling display of holiday lights.
The Festival of Lights runs through January 6, 2019, with this year's theme being "Let the children come to me, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
Each year, you'll find new displays as you walk around the grounds, and visitors are even welcome to climb to the top of the Basilica to enjoy an angel's-eye-view of the illuminated wonderland.
From a nine-foot-tall outdoor nativity scene to over 200 statues decorated in lights, you'll be amazed to see how this shrine transforms for the holidays.
The Festival of Lights is located at 1023 Swann Rd., Youngstown, NY 14174 and will be illuminated each night from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for all to see. To find out more about the shrine and festival, visit Our Lady of Fatima’s website here.
