There are lots of buildings around the Queen City that have managed to stand the test of time, still attracting visitors even as the world changes around them. There’s one location though over on Ellicott Street that’s been around for 150 years and has long been a favorite place to grab a drink in this area of Buffalo. Wondering what the story behind our city’s oldest bar is? Let us fill you in on the history of Ulrich’s Tavern.
Ulrich's Tavern on Ellicott Street is the oldest bar in Buffalo and has been serving locals since 1868.
Ulrich’s was originally a grocery store and saloon when it opened in 1868, but it has served many purposes over the decades. Different areas of the building have been used as a hotel, barber shop, and more.
Ulrich's Tavern is located at 674 Ellicott Street, Buffalo, NY 14203 and is open on Monday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. To learn more about Ulrich's and to take a peek at the menu, visit its website here.
