Throughout the wintertime here in Buffalo, it’s no surprise to any of us that you’ll find things get quite easily frozen over along the lakefront. What some people aren’t as aware of though is that each year during the month of January, you can enjoy a neighborhood ice festival that will make you remember all of the reasons why you love this time of year so much. Mark your calendar, because it’s just about time to head on over to Larkin Square – check it out!
On Saturday, January 26, Larkin Square and Seneca Street will be taken over by the 5th Annual Larkinville Ice Festival.
Each year, you'll find Buffalonians gathering at Larkin Square to enjoy an amazing array of family-friendly activities like a fun sledding hill, coloring and bubble stations, yoga in the snow sessions, and even the chance to check out circus performers making their way throughout the square.
Don't worry, it's not just our youngest residents who will be guaranteed to have fun at this Ice Festival! You'll also be able to check out things like free hot chocolate with a toppings bar, alpacas, demonstrations, and even an entire vendor market and outdoor bar out along the heated boardwalk.
Be sure to also check out fun happenings on Seneca Street, like exciting Ice Festival specials at Swan Street Diner, a whole Bavarian Winterfest with German food, and music at Hydraulic Hearth. How fun!
With all of your favorite parts of winter in one festival, you'll even be able to sit on an ice throne and enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides down Seneca Street. There's no doubt you'll find yourself absolutely charmed by this neighborhood event.
