There’s no denying that Buffalo is a big city. It’s got sky-high building and bustling streets. Given all that concrete, the views must be pretty terrible, right? Luckily for Buffalonians, the answer to that is no! Buffalo and the surrounding areas have some of the most spectacular views in western New York. Located on 21 historic acres right on the water, Canalside hosts tons of events each season. It's considered the heart of the city's waterfront revitalization program and it's easy to see why it was such a priority. Daytime or nighttime, the views are stunning.
To access this gorgeous view of the city head to City Hall, you'll take the elevator to the top, then walk a few flights of stairs to the ACTUAL top. There you'll be surrounded by glass or out on the deck if it is open. It's narrow, but the breeze is incredible on a hot day.
At slightly more than two hours away, this spot is a bit of a drive from Buffalo, but it's an absolute must-see. The waterfall is surrounded by a gorge and it's one of the most photographed natural areas in the state.

4. The Observation Deck at Erie Basin Marina, Buffalo
While not the highest view in town, this is still pretty legit. Add it into a night out at a restaurant to create a truly special event. Many people say this is the best place to watch a storm blow into the city, but just be careful of the winds. Things can get blustery up here!
Gaze up at the surrounding buildings while enjoying a meal at the rooftop dining and bar area at Tappo and you'll remember why Buffalo is such a remarkable city. This may be a surprising inclusion on this list, but trust us, it's gorgeous! Many of the rooms have views of Canalside, while others look out over the city. A stay here is for a special occasion, but it's worth it!
This restaurant at the Erie Basin Marina has some of the most stunning views in the area. While the sea-level space doesn't afford a full 360-degree experience, there's no denying that the view out over the lake at sunset is jaw-dropping. Get the ceviche & gnocchi apps while you're there! About an hour from downtown Buffalo, the Dunkirk Lighthouse offers views at the top as well as a museum. The lake views from up here make it look like an ocean and it's a wonderful place to imagine the first shots fired during the War of 1812, which were fired just off the coast from where the lighthouse sits!
This spot played a role in the Revolutionary War. The Southern Tier mountaintop location allows for views of the entire area. To make viewing easier, you'll find a platform that allows visitors to get even closer to the scenery.
