Time and time again, Hertel Avenue has proven to be one of the most delicious areas within Buffalo. Whether you’re visiting this stretch of the city to grab something from one of the area’s best delis, feast on massive burritos, enjoy some classic diner food, or even just chow down on some excellent poutine, there’s no tastier avenue than Hertel – and we’re adding another delicious destination to the list of reasons to visit. The sweet treats and huge portions scooped up at this ice cream shop will have your mouth watering uncontrollably.
Though it started off as a sweet little shop up in Lockport, Lake Effect Ice Cream has also become one of Buffalo’s best ice cream shops.
The little blue shop may be small, but it’s practically overflowing with flavor and personality. As you can imagine, it can get quite busy here during the summer months, but a treat from Lake Effect Ice Cream is totally worth waiting in line for.
The sweet-as-can-be masterminds at Lake Effect are constantly creating flavors to add to the menu, so there’s always something new to try each time you visit.
This definitely isn’t your average scoop shop. Why bother settling for a single scoop at any old ice cream parlor when you can enjoy a whole flight of ice cream at Lake Effect?!
As if the chance to have nine different scoops of ice cream on your plate wasn't dreamy enough, Lake Effect is also known for going all-out with their toppings.
Unlike many of the seasonal ice cream shops around here, Lake Effect is open all year long, so you don’t have to wait for warm weather to enjoy a frozen treat. There’s never a bad time for a scoop or two!
Lake Effect Ice Cream is located at 1900 Hertel Ave., Buffalo, NY 14214 and is open Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, visit Lake Effect’s website and Facebook page.
