When people from other states think about Buffalo food, wings come to mind immediately. While we’re happy to be famous for having the best wings in the country (and, let’s be honest, the world,) there’s a larger food scene here than just wings. From pizza to spaghetti to Polish food, you could eat your way around the world without ever leaving western New York. One great example is Buffalo-style hot dogs and this place does them just right!
You might recognize this truck as the slinger of the best hot dogs in Buffalo.
With unique flavor combinations as well as some old favorites from other cities, Frank Gourmet Hot Dogs has been feeding the good people of the Nickel City for years. For a number of those years, they were working out of this truck and a stall at the EXPO.
But as of June 2018, they've moved on up to this cool converted gas station on Kenmore Ave!
Take this Half Smoke, for instance. It's a nod to Ben’s Chili Bowl and includes spicy sausage and a half pork/half beef dog that is smoked, browned, and covered with mustard, onion, and chili.
The Proud Mary, featuring bacon, Tijuana cream cheese, and caramelized onions, is a must-try.
From the classics to new menu items like the Frank Mi (styled after a Vietnamese Bánh mì sandwich) and the Half-Smoke, you're not going to find a line-up of hot dogs like this anywhere else in Buffalo.
It has crusty french bread with arugula, local tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, celery, olives, pesto, and Parmesan cheese, tossed in a citrus vinaigrette.
Even burger lovers will find something to satiate them here - there's an entire section of the menu featuring four different burgers.
We love the concept of this special, The Real Housewife, which comes with two grass-fed beef patties, baby arugula, panko fried goat cheese, pickled red onions, and balsamic.
These delicious dogs are too good to stay in just one place, so the original Frank truck is still serving up Buffalonians throughout the city.
The Frank restaurant can be found at 707 Kenmore Ave. on the corner of Starin. They’re closed on Monday, but open every other day of the week from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Visit them online here or check them out on Facebook to stay up to date on the truck’s location.
The only thing better than Buffalo-style hot dogs are inexpensive Buffalo eats. Check out these 9 places where you can get a killer mean for under $10.
