If you’re ready to explore what makes our hometown so eerie, keep reading to discover why this one museum will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.
Located within Buffalo's Lovejoy district, the Iron Island Museum is filled with all sorts of history... and a few ghosts.
The building was donated and established as a museum nearly 20 years ago, but before that, it served as a church during the late 1800s and later transformed into a funeral home during the 1950s.
Visitors to the Iron Island Museum can experience an incredible range of exhibits that showcase Lovejoy’s fascinating history, highlighting the area’s railroad influences and other pieces of the past.
However, its history isn’t the only thing this museum is known for…
The Iron Island Museum draws in visitors from across the country who are interested in experiencing its paranormal activity.
Even the folks from the popular TV show Ghost Hunters have come to investigate this spot!
While you can take interesting and affordable tours throughout the year, visitors to Iron Island Museum have another unique option: joining in on an overnight ghost hunt.
Unlike many spooky spots that are famous for just one or two unrested spirits, the museum is believed to be haunted by dozens of ghosts, ranging from children to older adults.
Even the museum’s own curator has said she is cautious about entering the building alone out of fear of running into one of the many spirits said to reside here!
One such spirit, Edgar, was a war veteran whose cremated remains went unclaimed in the funeral home's basement and is now frequently spotted up in the rafters.
If you’re truly brave, sign yourself up for an overnight stay focused on attempting to document real-life paranormal evidence.
