While our hearts may lie in Downtown, any true Buffalonian knows that it’s the charming neighborhoods and small towns surrounding the city that are a true pleasure to visit. Only 20 minutes south of the Queen City, the small town of Hamburg puts on one of the most delicious festivals that you’ll ever attend. Feeling hungry? It’s time to bring your appetite out to Main Street.
Only 20 minutes south of Downtown, the village of Hamburg has been hosting their annual Burger Fest for over 30 years.
In 1985, Hamburg hosted its first festival to celebrate the 100th anniversary of when the first ever hamburger was created during the 1885 Erie County Fair.
More than 30 years later, the annual festival now draws out attendees from all over Western New York who are prepared to bring their appetites to this attraction. This year’s even will take place on July 20th, 2019.
This year you can expect to see local restaurants like Citrus Smashers, Jim’s Fries, Frank’s Gourmet Hot Dogs, The Frozen Hog, Dig Belly BBQ, Danny’s South, and Sweet Melody’s.
Other Buffalo favorites like Lloyd’s Taco, Main Street Ice Cream, The Cheesecake Guy, Babcia Pierogi, Kona Ice, and Charlie’s Sugar Waffles will also be there. Yum!
Did we mention that the Buffalo Cattaraugus & Jamestown Scenic Railway is even featuring a Burger Fest train ride? The hour-long train rides depart from the station at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. on the day of the festival.
There's never been a truer definition of a festival that you simply can't miss. If you're ready to celebrate the hamburger, take the trip down to Hamburg's Burger Fest this year.
