Situated on an island on Ellicott Creek, Cambria Castle has been around since the 1950s but is seldom fully open to the public. While this castle may be a private residence, the owners of the home have welcomed visitors for tours and even public garage sales during the last several years, so keep an eye out for opportunities to see Cambria Castle for yourself!

Less than 20 minutes north of Downtown Buffalo, Tonawanda Castle is the ultimate place in Erie County to host a special event. This historic castle dates all the way back to 1897 and is one of the most unique venues near the Queen City to rent out for weddings, parties, and other special occasions.

Only two hours east of Buffalo, Belhurst Castle is more than just your average estate in New York. Tucked away near Seneca Lake, the easy, scenic drive out to the Finger Lakes region is more than worth the journey, and this castle also operates as a hotel, restaurant, and winery, so you can stay a few days and experience all it has to offer!

Make the three-hour drive out to Little Falls and you can dine in one of New York’s most magical restaurants. Designed to resemble an Irish castle, Beardslee Castle dates all the way back to 1860 and looks like something straight out of a fairytale. It features several beautiful dining rooms and even a dungeon bar and grill that offers a more casual atmosphere, Beardslee Castle is more than worth the drive from Buffalo!

Kingfisher Tower requires a longer journey to reach, as it sits just under four hours east of Buffalo, but you’ll be royally rewarded when you arrive. It sits in the popular town of Cooperstown and you can take a magical boat ride that will take you past this beautiful but little-known castle. Glimmerglass Queen Boat Tours will give you an excellent view of the 60-foot-tall castle, which was constructed all the way back in 1876. Sounds like an exciting adventure, right?

Finally - and furthest from Buffalo (but more than worth the extra effort to visit) - head up to New York's Thousand Islands to explore Boldt Castle. The four-hour drive makes this castle better suited for a visit during a longer weekend trip, but it’s absolutely a destination you need to see. Boldt Castle is situated on Heart Island, which is just a quick boat ride from Alexandria Bay, and offers tours throughout the warmer months of the year. When you’re out on the river and surrounded by the beauty of this region, you’ll think you’ve been swept away to a fairytale land when you lay your eyes on Boldt Castle and tour it for yourself.
