Buffalonians make the headlines for some pretty interesting reasons. Streaking at sporting events is one of the first that comes to mind, but that’s not the only act that will get you in trouble with the authorities. There are several rules still in existence in Buffalo (and New York as a whole) that most people don’t even know about. If you think you’re innocent, you might want to think again. Here are eight laws every Buffalonian has unknowingly broken at least once.
1. Hanging clothes on a clothesline without a license.
If you want the smell of fresh air on your laundry, you might want to think twice. Hanging your clothes out to dry without a license is against the law.
Exercise caution while indulging in your favorite chicken wing soup; slurping could get you in trouble with the law! This is one strange Buffalo law that every Buffalonian has definitely unknowingly broken.
Wearing a bad outfit in public can get you in trouble from more than just the fashion police. The actual police have the right to prosecute you for it too! One's jacket and pants should always match. Or else.
We're confident that every Buffalonian has unknowingly broken this one. (Heck, we were guilty of it just last night!) Our biggest question: how could they even enforce this one?
Tired of strangers giving you the eye? Next time, warn them they could be facing a $25 fine for flirting. This strange Buffalo law could actually prove useful!
7. Wearing "body-hugging clothing" on the streets.
We're not sure who decides what clothing is too "body-hugging," but in the age of leggings-as-pants, we're sure that nearly every female Buffalonian has unknowingly broken this law!
...But only if it's for fun. Sorry, dodgeball fanatics; throwing a ball at someone's head for fun is against the law here in Buffalo. However, there are no rules to say you can't do it without having fun... so maybe just frown (and giggle on the inside) the next time you play.
How many of these strange Buffalo laws have you unknowingly broken? Share your guilty status with us in the comments below! Oh, and another thing: don’t even think about carrying an ice cream cone in your pocket on a Sunday. Or else. (Yup, that’s against the law too!)
