There’s no scientific proof of this, but alpacas just might be the cutest animal around. They resemble llamas and are closely related to them, but are a good bit smaller. They are mostly bred for their fiber, which is formed into wool to make winter clothing and really warm blankets. While alpacas are primarily associated with South America, we’ve got quite a few of them in New York at Buck Brook Alpaca Farm.

Buck Brook Alpaca Farm is located in the peaks of Sullivan County. In their homeland, alpacas live at high elevations, so they're very happy here in the Western Catskill Mountains.

The farm offers tours and also has a variety of ways for visitors to get involved with the alpacas. You can walk an alpaca (just like a dog!). They've also got blankets and other alpaca wool items for sale, and even offer alpaca yoga!
