As we work to flatten the curve as COVID-19 continues to spread throughout the state of New York and the rest of the country, you’ll find that now more than ever New Yorkers are searching for ways to keep themselves busy inside. While many of our residents have picked up hobbies and have made the effort to be as productive as humanly possible, some of us are simply seeking out a way to unwind during such uncertain times. If you’re ready to lay down and enjoy a good old binge-watching session on the couch, then try adding these movies that were filmed in New York to your list of things to watch!
Released to the world 10-years ago, Salt was filmed here in Albany back in 2009. Bringing Angelina Jolie to the Capital of New York State, you'll see Albany's ramps in the film, as well as other noticeable landmarks that made their way into the movie! Do you remember when this was filmed here in Albany?
Possibly the best movie to ever be filmed here in Western New York, depending on who you ask, Bruce Almighty came out in 2003. Filming in locations all around Western New York, our residents will be able to spot locations in places like Buffalo, as well as our famous Niagara Falls and Maiden of the Mist, of course. How neat?
While a large majority of Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow was filmed across the pond in foreign locations, to little surprise, the movie was also filmed in the actual village of Sleepy Hollow. As if there weren't already enough reasons to pay this historic village a visit, now you can add on the fact that it was a film location for a Tim Burton movie to your list of reasons to come here!
A seven-part mini-series that was released by HBO, Escape At Dannemora is something worth binge-watching not only because it was filmed here in New York, but also because of the fact that it's about something that happened in New York. To those of our residents who happen to be living under an Empire State rock, you'll want to binge-watch this one if you've yet to, so as you can learn about the tale of two New York prisoners escaping from a North Country prison. The tale is true!
A sight that should look familiar to many of us if you've kept up on movies that have come out over the last couple of years, A Quiet Place was filmed primarily here in New York. In A Quiet Place, you'll see the characters of the movie traveling along what our residents know as the Wallkill Valley Railroad Bridge and rail trail.
