While you may not have ever known it, according to the folks over at SmartAssest.com, the American industry sells more than $119.3 billion dollars worth of beer and malt-based beverages every year. Taking a further look at this top industry, the company went on to determine which cities around the United States were the best when it comes to drinking beer by using five different metrics. While the city of Cincinnati may have taken home the top spot, see how some of New York’s largest cities found their way to the top of this particular list. According to the information gathered using the U.S. Census and other data, the city of Buffalo has an overall index of 88.46 thanks to the fact that there are 16 total breweries, 6.2 breweries per 100,000 residents, 22 bars per 100,000 residents, 45 was the average number of beers per brewery, and $4.00 was the average price for a pint!

Another one of New York's top cities to almost break the Top 10, according to SmartAsset.com, Rocher has 17 total breweries, 8.2 breweries per 100,000 residents, 16.3 bars per 100,000 residents, 44.5 was the average number of beers per brewery, and $3.75 was the average price for a pint - giving the city an overall index of 88.42 - wow!

Falling a bit further down on SmartAsset.com's list but still landing itself in a top spot, the city of Syracuse was named the 29th best city in the country when it comes to drinking beer. According to the information gathered, Syracuse has 11 total breweries, 7.7 breweries per 100,000 residents, 26.2 bars per 100,000 residents, 31.5 was the average number of beers per brewery, and $4.00 was the average price for a pint - giving the city an overall index of 88.11.
