The Belva Lockwood Inn was constructed way back in 1815. It was originally a private home for Charles Pumpelly.

The Pumpelly family was one of the richest in the area at that time.
After Pumpelly moved, the beautiful home was converted into a women's boarding and day school, The Owego Female Seminary. The seminary was purchased in 1863 by Belva Lockwood, for whom the property is now named.

Interestingly, Lockwood was one of the first female lawyers in the nation. She even ran for President of the United States!

The inn has five charming rooms available for rent. This one, known as the Eagles Club room, was once home to the Eagles Club office. It's still got some of the original furniture that was used by the Eagles Club!
