Recently here at Only In New York, we shared with our readers how they can hike out to the abandoned ruins of an old estate that has severely weathered away with time. It’s always exciting to visit a place of the past like this, where you’ll get to feel like you’re stepping into a window that not everyone has had the chance to enjoy the view from. Luckily, there are plenty of other unique pieces of history around the Empire State that have better stood the tests of time. Throwing you back into the 1700s, see what everyday life was like during the French and Indian War as you lay your eyes upon these epic reenactments in the mountains.
Located up north, Fort Ticonderoga is known for being America's most historic landscape.
The historic star-shaped fort's history dates all the way back to the 1700s, now operating as an attraction that allows visitors to see the past take place right before them.
Throughout their operating seasons, you'll get to experience Musket Firing and Canon Firing demonstrations on a daily basis - something that's truly exciting to see.
On special occasions though, visitors will get the chance to explore Fort Ticonderoga on a day when they're hosting one of their exciting battle reenactments.
It's here that you'll get to see how the British managed to have the largest army in North American history to date, yet were defeated by the French army - a mere quarter of its size.
Another exciting thing about the fort's battle reenactments is that visitors also can choose to board the fort’s tour boat, where they can see the battle happen from out on Lake Champlain.
There's always a reason to head up to Fort Ticonderoga! Whether you're looking to get out on Lake Champlain or want to hike to the top of the mountain, or you're in need of surrounding yourself with a royal garden and pieces of history - there's something for everyone.
