It’s no secret that when you’re living in New York, at some point or another you’ll endure some cringe-worthy moments. Some of these uncomfortable situations may be completely out of your control, but eventually you’ll learn to ride the waves and deal with these things as they come. Usually leaving you in a bit of a pickle, this list contains awkward moments that all of us have experienced at least once.
Secret spots are the best spots! So when we do add a geotag to our uploaded picture, it's because we don't want you knowing where it is we were. Try and try all you may, but we probably won't spill the beans on where we spent the day exploring.
Due to the fact that everyone in our state seems to have their own opinion over what Upstate New York actually is, confusion frequently arises over areas of this topic. One of the most cringeworthy things to witness is when a resident claims that they're from Upstate when they're not, only to be quickly corrected by someone who truly lives in the area.

Anytime someone asks us where we're from and they hear New York as the response, they automatically assume we mean the Big Apple. No matter where it is we're traveling, these strangers are always hoping we're some exotic lively resident from New York City. But like we always say, there's so much more to the Empire State!

Easily New York's most famous waterfall, not all of our residents are willing or want to make the drive out to America's side of Niagara Falls. So even though this famously known natural wonder attracts visitors from all over the world, not all of us have made the trip out there even though we've been living in New York our entire lives.
A question many of us are often asked, out-of-town friends seems to always want to know how close we live to Canada. But it frequently becomes an awkward situation once we remind them of how large New York is that and not everyone lives out that way.
Whether it be a town name or street, there's lots of locations in New York that are a bit of a tongue twister. And while it'd be easy enough to just tell the person how to pronounce the place, it's more fun to watch them try to figure it out for themselves.
There's nothing worse than someone showing up sporting a Boston Red Sox shirt, or really any New England team merchandise. Living in this state means you are almost certainly raised to love the Yankees and all of our other teams, knowing that the Red Sox and New England Patriots are teams you should never be rooting for!
